Temporary exhibition 2022 at the Geology Center: On the prowl. The hunting profession

After having presented beekeeping and avalanche management, this year the Haudères Centre for Geology and Glaciology has once again chosen an aspect of the relationship between man and nature which is well established in the Val d'Hérens: the profession of hunting.

Hunting has a long tradition in the Valais and in the Val d'Hérens in particular. In almost every family there are people who practice it. On the other hand, the public, often urban, who visit the valley often know little about it and wonder about its usefulness. This trilingual exhibition therefore offers a unique opportunity to start a discussion on a subject that often divides people.

The exhibition is divided into 4 sectors that trace the typical stages of a hunting event:

• Planning and preparation
• Watching and waiting
• Aiming and shooting 
• Gutting and preparing
