Marie Métrailler - Valais woman of the decade

Born in Evolène at the beginning of the 20th century, Marie Métrailler was a feminist before her time.

In 1938, she founded a weaving workshop in her village to provide work and independence for many local women, while reviving the production of linen and hemp fabric in the Val d'Hérens.
