Built Heritage Trail - summer
Évolène
With its territory of almost 21,000 hectares, which covers the entire upper part of the Val d'Hérens, Evolène is one of the largest communes in Switzerland.
As a mountain region, Evolène has managed to preserve its culture and traditions, such as the patois, the costume, the carnival and the breeding of the Hérens breed of cows.
When you look at the built environment, you can see that the commune of Evolène has a rich and varied architectural heritage, which bears witness to the life of a farming community, before tourism and hydroelectricity brought new development to the region.
Discover throughout the walk, unique building forms that adapt to the landscape and the environment, the dwelling houses, barns, barns and granaries, all different buildings, each with a particular function.
