Bertol hut

Arolla/Val d’Arolla

Bertol is a hut of the Neuchâtel section of the Swiss Alpine Club. Situated at 3311 metres above Arolla in the Val d'Hérens in the Valais, it is on the Haute Route Chamonix-Zermatt route and sees the Patrouille des Glaciers - the mythical ski mountaineering event that links Zermatt to Verbier - pass by every two years. The Bertol hut faces the Dent Blanche (4357 metres), the Matterhorn (4477 metres), the Dent d'Hérens (4171 metres) to the East, Tête Blanche (3724 metres), the Bouquetins mountain range, the Dents and the Bertol ridge to the South, the Petit Mont Collon to the South-West, the Pigne d'Arolla to the West, the Douves Blanches to the North. The Bertol hut, clinging to its rocky peak, overlooks the Mont Miné Glacier and the Bertol Glacier.
