Patrouille des Glaciers Training Camp

Evolène Région has prepared a two-day training program in the Arolla region.

Program:

Day 1:
6:00 pm – Welcome and check-in
7:00 pm – Dinner
8:00 pm – Theory (Route/equipment/clothing/nutrition/team spirit)

Day 2:
7:00 am – Breakfast
8:00 am – Departure to the different training stations
9:00 am – Workshops in groups
4:00 pm – Roped skiing
7:00 pm – Dinner

Day 3:
7:00 am – Breakfast
8:00 am – Departure to the different training stations
9:00 am – Workshops in groups
4:00 pm – End of the course

Workshop content:

1. Use of avalanche transceiver, assembling shovel and probe
2. Knots, roping up, coiling the rope, harness
3. Skis on the backpack, fixed ropes
4. Avalanche exercise
5. Changeover exercise, skinning, kick turns, skis on the backpack, fixed ropes
6. Backpack contents, map & compass, GPS, emergency communication

Dates:

• January 29 – 31, 2026
• February 4 – 6, 2026

Required equipment:

• Personal equipment needed for the race
• Warm clothing
• Something to take notes
