Avalanche management: exhibition and guided tours

Val d’Hérens

From 03 Jul 2021 to 31 Oct 2021

Evolène, a municipality that has been exposed to avalanches for hundreds of years and was painfully hit in 1999, has learned over time to manage the avalanche phenomenon. This management is now part of its cultural heritage.
The exhibition highlights the means of preventing avalanches, such as knowing the places at risk in order to avoid building there, and the implementation of warning, evacuation and rescue systems. Since 2018, avalanche management has been listed as a UNESCO intangible cultural asset.
